All of us have heard the horror stories of these traps that non-moto/atv environazi's set for us dirt bike and atv'ers. Finally here in Colorado it grabbed a headline in the Aspen Daily News (yes THAT Aspen, a generally left leaning paper so put your tin foil hats on) I am sure in most of your guys areas similar things have been rumored to have happened. To find out what happened you can read the short article ***HERE***

Thats a shame and the guy makes some valid points. Alot of hunters use ATVs....why have a problem with dirt bikes. WHY CANT WE JUST GET ALONG!

I love this statement:
"My issue with the dirt bikers is that they are rude and cause havoc"
I stress the generalizing word "THEY" - as if it's every single person on a dirtbike/atv. The crappy part is that you see it all the time - 1 or 2 people ruining it for everyone.
In my local district, the quad guys/gals have a bad name because "WE" are a bunch of "no helmet wearing drunks"... So, as a group, the quad people have had a heck of a time over the years fighting for seat time on the local tracks. Dirtbikes have never "been a problem".
In the meantime, you have me, my husband and my two step daughters who ride and shouldn't fall under the general "THEY". But, again, 1 or 2 always ruin it for everyone.
I can't believe someone would do that with the barb wire. That guy is lucky to be alive.
2008 - PAMX Series, tied for 1st so far... October 12th finishes it off!

Now if it was someone from the Sierra Club saying that they (the sierra Club member) would lump both us motorcyclists and ATVs in the "WE" and "THEY" category.
I will go one further on the MX track problem, as a motorcyclist I will be the first to say that most ATV's that visit my local tracks around here are probably like you and follow the (simple) rules. But there is always 1 or 2 atvers that show up just to do donuts in the parking lot with out helmets, thus a stereotype is born. And I am not going to say that there isn't motorcyclists doing it either, just seems like its less prevalent at the tracks (maybe the dumbass dirt bikers have too much pride to show up because they cannot ride, thus stick to the trails where they won't get heckled?). Now on the trails it can be 50/50 of atv and dirt bike dumb asses.
The scary thing is I ride that area a few times a year, so it could have been me!

That's some cruel and nasty tactics right there. However, there's no proof it was a hunter. Could be some a-hole purposly fueling the tensions between the two groups. If caught he should have his private parts wrapped with barbed wire, then dragged behind a quad. Similar things were happening in Maine. Tree huggers we putting treadels(long pieces of metal, like a rake, with sharp spikes facing up) in the trails. A young kid hit one, went out of control and crashed. He survived also, but it could have been tragic.
