I'm looking into buying an atv mostly an all around but will hit the trails.
I want a few suggestion i have searched but really want some real peoples insight.
I like the banshee always have and i like the yfz450 but wouldn't mind feedback on other makes and models.
and which would be faster the banshee or the yfz??

the yfz has drastically better handling, it all depends on how much you want to spend, we need price range and skill level before we can really recommend which bike is best

The YFZ is a high maintenance machine.
I have yet to ride a 450 that feels as good in the trails as my Banshee. But all the 450s ive rode were in stock form.

belive it or not the banshee even though it is a 2-smoke is less maint than a 450 i would buy an older banshee for about 2K and take another 2 and put that into suspension and a good set of tires and wheels. and a fresh top end and you will have a better handling bike than a stock 450 that you droped 4K off the get go

If you want a trail machine that can do everything and like Yamahas I would buy a Raptor 700. Its got plenty of power, great handling and reverse. The power band is very linear, some like it some don't, but that can be changed buy changing pipes and programming on the fuel injection. You can do some MX with one and be very happy especially compared with a Banshee. You'll never have to rejet and while they do require some maintainance it won't be nearly as much as either the Banshee or a Yfz450. The new Yfz is supposed to have fuel injection so that should help reduce maintainance time but it still won't be as good as the Raptor for overall comfort while trail riding IMO.
As for speed, stock for stock a Yfz will kill a Banshee in acceleration. The stock Raptor will be about equal to a Yfz, it would depend on the rider.*
1badbanshee- As for feeling as good on the trails, thats kind of subjective to what you are used to. If the trails are really wide open a Banshee is a lot of fun. You won't see many Banshee's doing hare scrambles any more, handling and power characteristics are the reason.
*-I said stock for stock you Banshee freaks! Yes, I know you could easily modify yours to go faster.

I love when people talk about how much maintenance a 450 needs. Yeah its more than your average sport quad but it doesnt mean you'll be working more than riding. With my 450 I clean the quad itself, clean the chain, and clean the filter after pretty much every ride. And change the oil after a certain amount of hours.. Which should be done on probably all ATV's.
I have ridden some pretty nasty trails on my 450. Ive ridden wide open logging roads to 4x4 only rock and log trails(Believe it or not..) A good rider can take a 450 just about anywhere.
Heres a pretty nasty YFZ
If your only trail riding tho i would look at the raptor 700r, they can be made into pretty mean trail rigs

out in the open is where the banshee really shines if the trails get really tight you have to use the clutch alot to keep it in the power curve

I would go with the 450, up to date suspension, up to date motor. Sure there's maintance, but there's maintance with every ATV. The banshee always has to be on the pipe to really enjoy what it has. Are you an agressive rider?
