Yesterday I stopped in our local Yamaha dealer and was talking to him about this machine. He asked me in one word how I would describe it. I said, "mean". It is a mean machine. Now I will admit I don't know much about Sport atv's but this is one I would probably buy if I could. I just like almost everything about it. From its look on. The only thing I don't like is its weight. It could be a little lighter.

Even without reverse it will be considerably lighter than your Kodiak, unless you're considering starting a career in MX, I'd bet a standard YFZ would fit you perfectly, and I would bet it will be adopting many of the styling and EFI that this one has.. . . . You should DEW IT maniac!

KM, like I posted previously all manufactures will now be listing weights as "curb" or "wet" or "ready to ride". The previous model of the YFZ is listed at 350 DRY weight while the updated 09 is listed at 405 WET weight. Things to consider when comparing these to is the 09 is weighed with gas, oil, all fluids, and a battery while the previous model is missing all these things. Another thing is the 09 also has wider arms and EFI which will add extra while not much, it will be a little extra. So in reality its not much heavier then previous models.
I say buy one

Hodgeball, correct me if I am wrong, but I think you are referring to the max acceptable width for an AMA legal race quad - - which is 50".
Stock setup for this machine is has on overall width at 48.8". So, depending on what tires/rims you run, you can come pretty darn close with the otherwise stock setup, similar to the LTR.
2008 - PAMX Series, tied for 1st so far... October 12th finishes it off!

Ok, I know Hodgeball <3's his KTM so I figured he was just promoting it as "the gold standard".

So unless I am going to race MX this machine is totally wrong for me. So why would Yamaha put it on the market? Why not sell it only to the race teams?

I'm just assuming that is what he meant - I could be wrong, which does happen time to time, hehe!
Thanks man, glad to be a newb around the forum.
