Cam is only one of the modifications. The engine and transmission are engineered as a system. New Cam, carb modifications, exhaust, are all designed to give the ATV more power. Problem is not all the other parts of the engine are designed for this power.
One of the most common issues is overheating. The 400 is air cooled so its cooling capacity is limited. Riding this machine hard is going to mean it will be running at higher temperatures. This often leads to other problems that people typically do not assosiate with over heating like leaking seals, bearing wearing out etc.
Need for reverse depends on where you ride and how often you want to have to drag the machine around. On the trails I ride it would be impossible to simply turn around without reverse. I have to turn around alot because I ride with my wife and kids who often ride much slower.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I appreciate the feedback and im already addicted to this hobby. I went out ridin yesterday and this morning. So i need to replace my steering stem and one of the tie rods is bent. I plan on ordering the tusk tie rod kit for 100.00 and I dont know if i should get an aftermarket stem or stock. I was looking at a getting either a Burgard +1 stem for 200 or a stock one for 70.00. Im 6 feet tall so i was thinking the +1 might be good for me. Also im going to order some new DG nerf bars with the heel guards because the old ones were beat and one fell off today. I hit a railroad tie and my rear lugnuts loosened up so now im going to get some new wheels and tires. I want to get some ITP 4 spoke rims and either kenda klaws or ITP Holeshot HD tires. Is there any disadvantage to getting the HD's versus regular holeshots or kenda klaws?

Funny you say so cause all my hard parts are dg and that's the only thing that hasn't fallen to piece...between to bikes, we've had quite a bit of parts circulate around here...

My buddies haven't had much luck with DG or Pro Armor either, but I have the Rock heelguards, nerfs, and pegs on my kfx and it's actually a really good set up for only $240. By the way, go with the aftermarket stem, you'll be glad you did haha. Also, Stay away from HDs, but what kind of riding do you do?

So have I. Besides them being a pain to get mounted they've held up well.

All trail riding, im new so im not going to be doing any racing or hardcore jumps or anything. I just want parts that are going to be reliable and not fall off after a year.

Well if you're doing ALL trail riding, RAZR2s are probly the best trail tire but they are heavy, maybe some holeshot xcr or xct would be great.
