Depends on alot of things:

What type of terrain?
-fast open trails?
-rocky, hilly trails?
-muddy, tight trails?

Probably for doing all of the above would be something with IRS. IE: trx700xx or Outlaw 525.

IRS, Good GC, Good power, and can handle any trails a SRA sport quad can easy.

VERY GOOD POINT! Which kind of trail? The highly technical tight trails? or... the rocky trails? or...the open trails?
The 300ex is good at the highly technical tight trails because is very very compact, has a tight turning radius, and has enough power to scoot around out there. I'm not sure if it has reverse or not. If it does, that's much much better. You can really really use reverse when navagating though the technical tight trails.

For rocky trails something with an IRS. Go with bigger tires too, you'll need the ground clearance. Change sprocket combos to suit the bigger tires. Skid plates are a must too. MAKE sure they are steel and have recessed mounting holes for the bolts. If the bolt head is exposed it will be sheared off when you skid over a rock. The aluminum skid plates do not hold up.

For open trails....sky's the limit. well...almost.

04 402ex. Moose Works Power-up kit. K&N filter, WB E-Series pipe, ITP Sandstar II tires, Douglas .190 rims, ITP razor front tires, Kill switch, air scoops, and sheepskin seat cover (If I'm gonna be sittin, I want COMFORT BABY!)

These guys seem to think that the 2009 Suzuki QuadSport Z400 is pretty good for the trails.

2009 Suzuki QuadSport Z400 Review

I have ridden the older QuadSport, and they are nice.

The Honda EX400 and Raptor 700 are also good IMO.
