I have a '07 Can-Am Outlander XT Max. I put a Moose basket on the back. Now I have a problem the tail light is covered. So I bought some LED's and mounted them on the basket, now here is my problem. When I turn on the lights all of the LED's light up, when I hit the brakes half of them go out. I have tried to reverse the wiring NO help. So if any of you fine ATV'ers out there can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

God Bless

Sounds like some kind of grounind issue to me. The only thing that doesnt measure up is that only SOME of them go out , and not all of them . I'd start with Rechecking the wiring once again , and pay Close attention.

We'll then it seems to me that it is something in the lighting structure itself , so if I where You , I would bring them back and get new one , and see if it happens again ..

could be that when your stoped your not genrateing enof elc. to have then all on. if you don't keep the RPM's up then some will go out.

That cannot be possible if the voltage regulator and or rectifier is good. The lighting coil and stator will always be generating at least ~13.5 volts (actual voltage will vary slightly depending on design) if the voltage regulator is working properly as it controls how much voltage the stator is allowed to produce at any given RPM from idle-redline.

The problem lies somewhere in the wiring of the lights or the circuitry. Basically you are getting the wrong voltage and possibly amperage to the LEDs that make up the brake light portion. LEDs unlike conventional filament type bulbs LEDs are either "on" or "off". Filament bulbs have varying degrees of "on" (Thats why drag racers dislike tracks going to full LED Christmas trees because you cannot cheat the tree) The point in all this is LEDs are more sensitive to "unclean" voltages and amperages. I suspect possibly a faulty unit or improper wiring to the unit including grounding. Unfortunately with out spending some time with a V/ohm meter and good ole trial and error I cannot suggest a solution.
