A couple of months ago there was a discussion about fuel efficiency of ATVs(Rincon verses allcomers), and if that was a consideration for buying. The price of gasoline has upped the applicability of this subject even more than ever. Most Big Bore ATVs fuel tanks are around 5 gallons, and that would now cost over $20 to fill with gas over $4 a gallon. Does that affect your priorities for what you purchase in cars, trucks? How about your ATVs? It used to be nothing to even consider the minimal cost of filling all your quads when trailered up and heading out. Now it can get over $70 to fill all the partially empty quad tanks (4 0r 5 for my family) and the two 5 gallon gas containers. That is not even counting the amount to fill up your tow vehicle. Now I am spending less time riding my Rincon, which isn't that bad on economy, and riding the very thrifty 400EX.

If u have 4-5 quads, odds are you are somewhat relaxed financially, and i'd like to think that gas money for your toys isn't that much of an issue, unless of course your boss is thinking of firing your Ass tomorrow for the hottie who he just interviewed last week.

ACTUALLY,LOL, I have been riding the raptor to work alot more than the brute this spring. I get better than 35 mpg with the Rap VS. 12to15 with the Brute. Since I bought the Cavalier,30 to 35 mpg, I havent rode the Rap nearly as much as previous yrs. My pickup and Suburban have only been started to move them around the yard. I need t o get my S-10 back on the road for the occassional time I need to haul the quads.

This is as inane as they come for comments. Even the financially relaxed persons have been affected by the cost of fuel. It directly attacks one's discretionary income, and the first thing to get tight is the recreational budget. As for toys, that budget has been rethunk totally. Toyhauler? A truck is necessary to tow any size toyhauler that can handle 4 or 5 ATVs. Mine is a diesel, and at $4.75 a gallon, the toyhauler is out for now. Sport quad uses less fuel than utility, so I ride the sport quad. In the trip that I and my brothers took to Arkansas and Missouri, we mostly rode the Utilities because of the need for 4x4 on the black diamond trails. It was noted that the 420 Rancher was the fuel thrifty machine, the Rincon almost as thrifty, but the Grizzly used twice as much fuel as the Rancher, and more than 2/3 more than the Rincon. The Rancher and the Rincon were direct drive machines and could be run more fuel efficiently. The Grizzly being belt driven(CVT) was alway operating in a higher RPM range and used far more gasoline. Lets just say we all noticed the difference when we each took our turn filling the quads. Paying for the power is getting more costly, and may in the near future even influence ATV buying impulses, and manufacturer's willingness to build more powerful machines.

That means either less playtime or less quads in the garage
