Highlifter Outlaws 26" 10 and 12 wide
by far the best mud tires out except for the new 32" gorilla silverbacks.
DIRTlights are what "mudlights" should be called. there's no way they are comparable in mud to laws or mudzillas

Mudlites are a trail tire....good for trail and LITE mud, but in the thick stuff they dont hold a candle to outlaws.
Bought a 2005 500 manual...have to pick it up in Alabama.
2006 Recon for sale!! modded out.
2006 big bear....alot of junk for muddin

I just picked up a Yamaha 600 Grizzly with new 27 x 12 x 12 Blackwater XT's and rims how do these rank if anybody can tell me. They look like some good mudders to me.

I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to test and ride on a lot of different tires by various manufacturers; all of which were mentioned in the previous posts. Bottom line, not every tire is going to suit every riding situation. You need to determine what is the majority of the terrain you are going to be riding on. If its going to be strictly mud, then the Highlifter Outlaw is going to be hard to beat, however, the Outlaw tire rides rough on the regular trail. For all around trail riding, I prefer the Maxxis Bighorns. They grip excellent on rocks, over logs and even hold their own in the mud. The down side is they tend to want to power slide a little too much in when the trail gets wet or on loose aggregate. They wear like iron too.
All of the ITP Mud Lite series are very good all around tires. My favorite being the XTR. Downside to the Mud Lite series is they tend to have a weaker rubber compound as well as sidewall. We have managed to puncture every ITP ever tested.
No matter what you decide on, do your research, read the reviews and then decide on what will be best for you. Any choice will be better than the stock option.

I can agree with you on the Bighorns and I would add ice to the slick part.They sure do wear though hears mine with over 5500miles on them and most of those were inthe rocks.

I actually owned a 1998 Grizzly 600 with 27 inch Blackwater XTs. Good tires overall, and competent in mud.....in fact more competent than the rest of the machine.

blackwaters are good tires kind of a dated desgin but they have been proven to be a good mud tire but if you want a stritcly mud tire go to the people that play in the swamps. Interco, and get the tallest swamper vampires you can get

Couldn't beat the price of the Grizzly, 600 miles on it with a 2500 lb warn winch, new plow and salt spreader all never used and the tires are new as well. Just put a new battery in the machine, it runs pretty warm compared to my other atv's but from what I read and hear they all (Grizzlies) run hot. The fan works perfectly on the machine too.

All the big bores run warm, especially the big singles. I found a way to keep them running cool, but I don't know if I'd recommend it for everyone.
