With the rising prices of gas, wouldn't it make sense to legalize ATV's for on road use. Just on secondary roads, similar to the way Mopeds operate. I think it would save us all some money at the pumps. I wouldn't mind spending a few bucks for DOT tires, a horn and turn signals. Their safer than Mopeds IMO. At least they can keep up with traffic, you get some porker on a Moped that slows down to 10-15mph on a hill, causes a traffic train, then road rage. We should flood the State legislators with e-mails, to get this passed. In a few states they are legal, maybe we can hear from some of you, tell us how it works out. Maybe someone could setup an automatic e-mail form, that could be adjusted, state by state. If anything, write letters. Lets get something started here.

I am with you on this one. I dont think it would be too hard make one legal. There might have to be a limit on width though. The wider the better, obviously.

Would need to institute and endorsment program similar to motorcycles, training, separate tests, DOT approved lights and locations of those lights.

If the State Governments were smart, they could actually make some money on this, while saving us some money on gas.

There are a few towns in Texas (mostly rual) where I have seen
street legal Side X Side's. There wasn't really that much done
to them other than signal lights, a plate, and some different
tires.

He likes styling, Ma tax payers set him up with a bad black Candarack Seevilli, for him and his crew. Set the brother up with a ride.

The single piece rear axle might be cause for concern at speed. IRS would fix the problem though. I read that Europe has a BIG quad that is legal for street use. It looks like something out of Star Trek.
