Welcome to the forum. Like most everyone stated you picked a very capable first machine. My brother in law had an 06 450 Kodiak/Grizzly. The only slight issue I had with it was that it had a little more body roll than I liked around turns, as compared to my Grizzly 660. This was due to the lack of a rear sway bar. I don't know if Yamaha has added one sense 06, but it's not a big issue. Enjoy you're new machine.

I have a 2007 Grizzley 450 4x4
Pros: Good downhill engine braking, just put the machine in 4wd Low Range gear and you will not have to use any brakes.
Selectable 2wd 4wd with Locker
Not too bulky, nimble around the trails
Best racks in the industry
Good ground clearance
Cons : On my model (2007) my rear disc brakes are out at the hub where water and debris gets in and causes the rear brakes to squeak, Your 2008 model has this problem corrected with a center mounted rear wet brake system, much better.
Would like to have a handlebar headlight that moves in the direction you steer.

What industry are you speaking of? Just wonderin'.
25" ITP Mudlite XTRs
Uni Air Filter
93 Octane Irving Gas
Dielectric grease
Fresh air in tires monthly
4.6 psi in tires instead of reccommended 4.5
Totalled Red King to get prettier Yellow King
Amsoil synthetics
Anodized aluminum valve stem caps

I myself prefer Yamaha's steel racks over composites, such as Polaris's. But I don't think that makes them the best. I believe Arctic Cat has the best setup with their speedlock(I think that's what it's called) system. All kinds of attachments quick-connect to the racks, eliminating the need to tie them down. They even have a hunting blind/ice fishing shelter, that unfolds from the racks, petty slick setup.

The Artic Cat folks have taken a mish matched type 4x4 atv,and made some wholesale changes that the Big Three haven't looked at.such as under clearence, trailer tow,and the aformentioned, rack system. There are two of them in my hunting camp, and they do perform well.We have some real tough terrain(clear cuts)that have deep ditches and down timber. The cat seems to do the job.I don't think any of the builders make them like they used to. The quality is not there on the new stuff IMO!

The YAMAHA Grizzly was one of the best quads I have ever owned. I had the Grizzly 700. Does the 450 have power steering as well? Either way, you will love it!!!
