RE: Drinking games

Drinking games? When I was younger we play'd quarters and liars dice.
These days we take bets on how long we can last before we need ANTACID.

RE: leaving Kalifornistan!

I left Kalifornistan in 2000... and never regretted it for so much as a single moment. I even wrote a few of the gov't reps telling them allllllll about it.
I never got a reply.

RE: back in the saddle again

sand sucks horse power big time
YOU GOT THAT RIGHT! A tank of gas in the sand lasts from 45 minutes to an hour and 15 minutes. On the hard dirt I can get 2.5 hours out of a tank.

RE: back in the saddle again

Because it's a Honda...duh :B
So what's the specs on this new one? Stock bore/stroke? CC's? Better carb?
Actually, this engine is a carbon copy of the old one. 402cc, 10:1 Wisco piston. I had top take what I could get on e-bay for a new cylinder and the one I found was a 402....just like the old one. So that's cool. I'm looking into installing a 450R carb on the quad. I hear it really helps. The response of this new engine is much better than the other...probably worn rings. When this motor goes (in about a year with the way I drive), I'll change it to a 406cc with an 11:1 piston, heavy duty studs, etc.

RE: back in the saddle again

Why so many engines blown?
Because I've put about 1,000 hours on my machine in only 5 years. That's a minimum of 4 hours per week. It's also mostly in the sand... that is murder on the quad.
oh.... and I haul a$$.

back in the saddle again

Oh yeah... I got it running again. 7 hours of knuckle bashing to change-out the engine.
This is the 3rd engine for my quad and the 2nd I've built. It sure is breaking-in well. (Even without the Sparks Racing timing advance key. I forgot to put it in. So I guess it'll wait for the next re-build.)
The old engine needs a few time-serts installed to keep the valve cover from coming off. Oh... and an exhaust stud stripped out. It's been awhile since I put a picture here... so it may not work right.

RE: 440ex problems

The $35 yous pend on a Clymer manual will save you THOUSANDS of dollars over the years. Mine sure has.
Tunes ups are easy once you do it a couple times, you'll be able to do it in about 45 minutes.
Also... Find out what kind of cam it's got. A stock cam has different valve clearances than most of the aftermarket ones.

RE: Trail etiquette.

Back in the summer of 2006 I was out riding in the Horsefall Oregon dunes and I noticed a couple of Banshees riding along the same areas that I was. I thought nothing of it. When they went into a steep treed area and didn't come out I investigated and saw one of them had gotten stuck. I went down to help out. They behaved strangely and I should have known something was up. They weren't really concerned with their prediciment. They were concerned with me. All the same, I showed them how to get out of their mess and off they went. Later that day I was at the Horsefall dayuse area having a sandwitch and saw the 2 guys ride in. I went to the toilet and came out and one of them approached me and said, "You're an A$$-hole on the forum." They quickly got on their Banshees and split. They were about 18-19 yrs old and I figured they recognized me from the pics I've posted. They also didn't like me very much. I went back to my sandwitch and beer. After a while I was ready to ride again. I went up to my quad and discovered the seat had been cut.
Kids these days....

RE: A bit of an unconventional post (pics)

Now THAT'S what the purpose of life is! Luv.
When someone comes along in this life that you love, hang on tooth and nail.
One moment they are their. The next...gone.
Congratulations to the both of you and the best of wishes.
