RE: 2003 chevy 2500HD

no, 600 a month is only the insurance. I currently pay 270/month for my silverado ... which is actually more expensive than the truck payment!
The reason it's so high for me is my age. I'm just under 2 weeks before i turn 21. My driving record is perfect! 2 tickets -speeding and improper stop (4 years ago, off my record now). No accidents, DUI's, reckless drivings, NO NOTHING! And here I thought age discrimination was illegal ... apparently not.
That still doesn't answer the question. Why is it more than double to insure a diesel powered truck?

RE: 2003 chevy 2500HD

We had a Yukon Denali with the 6.0. Pretty powerful motor but I'd try to hold out for a diesel if I were you.
the diesel is a long ways out. insurance on a diesel for me right now is over 600/month ... not good.
Why does it cost more to insure a diesel powered truck than a gas powered one? I don't get what the fuel type has to do with risk factor. $600 a month could insure a Ferrari, for Christ's sake.

RE: 2003 chevy 2500HD

Had a co-worker with a 2003 4X4 regular cab. Had the 6.0 as well. I believe it was good for more like 13-14 on the highway. Good motor, from what I've seen.

First: Prince! Some great pics of your farm equipment, and maintenance.2nd,what is the Cat tractor used for?.WE have had no real good luck with Western Star on long hauls, coast to coast.THe Pete's hold up better on long hauls for us.You have to have a "real" truck to make the Mtns, week after week...
Western Starsa are beasts. They do ok on the long hauls, but their forte is things like overweight applications, like logging. Most of the trucks used up in logging country are Western Stars these days. As far as long haul, over the road stuff, I like KW, Volvo, and Pete.

RE: GM

I have been in the lite trucking business for 30 yrs,and Ford has given me the best all a round service.I've use Chevy, GMC,Dodge, and none would carry the load like the Fords....I could have been lucky, and have seen Chevy work for others, but they diid take the tough use(always over loaded) like the Fords. When you get into serious trucking, there's really only two contenders. Macks for moving dirt, and Pete's, for moving freight. Anything else is a car with a truck-like appearance.
I wouldn't count out Western Star.

RE: New family member, but an old friend

Congrats CC, i would toss some nice tires and rims on it to give it that sparkly look.;) (and maybe a 2" lift, if it was mine)
You gonna yank ole NH off the couch for a ride?
If it were my only ride, maybe, but its not, so its staying bone stock to preserve the handling. I still have the KQ700 with the XTRs if I wanna play in the muck. Way I figure, I have a very sweet general trail machine, and an accomplished mudder to choose from. I threw 27s on the first Rinny. It certainly increased 4X4 capabilities, but is destroyed the handling/agility and definitely robbed some power. The overall ride suffered enough, I wish I had never done it. Basically, the point in choosing the Rincon for a second ride was to have a comfy SUV, as well as a Humvee sitting in the garage.
As for ole NH, he'll probably ride the Rincon. It'll keep his old bones out of the chiropractor's office.
Taking her out for a maiden voyage in the morning. Riding with some more old bones straddling a Rancher 350 4WD. Shouldn't be too hard to keep up lol.
i wanna go!!! If you are looking for a tire that is light and also strong take a look at the Maxxis 4 speeds I have them on my 08 Renagade.
Thanks Bruce. Once I put some puncture holes in the stockers, I will keep that in mind.

My 7.3 just had 2000+ miles put on it over the weekend and crossed 100,000 miles...Im so proud.
285,000+ on my 2002. You got a ways to go...lol. I'd still haul trailers cross country with it in a heartbeat. Still strong as an ox and constant as the North Star.

RE: New family member, but an old friend

Nice. Better get some mud on it. It just looks to new and shinny. Do you remember the bashing I took with my new Sportsman by not haveing any mud on it?
Mudholes have become "hard to come by" here. All the trail systems now have bridges built over the real mud, or have been rerouted to go around. If you get caught straying off the trail to tackle one, you can get in some serious trouble from Fish n Game (tree huggers). I'm sure it'll still get plenty muddy, and I'll take some pics just for you Sportsman4X4. If I do run across some opportunities to submarine a quad, I'll swap with whoever is on my King Quad and go for it.

Yessir, I got me a 2010 Rincon. Always missed the handling characteristics and ride I got with it, as well as the build quality.
For those of you getting ready to bash the 4WD capabilities, save it. I still have the King Quad. For most trail riding, I'll probably ride the Rincon, but if I think things are gonna get real, out comes the King.
Now, if only the rain would stop. I will be posting a thread with pics depicting a side by side comparison of the two quads. Looks good but Does It have PS
Bruce, it's not available on the Rincon, and if it were, it would be a waste, unless I put monster mudders on it.......which I am not. Rincons steer easier than some 2WD models I have ridden. I'm not a really big fan of PS on quads anyways. I don't like the "numb" feeling in the steering. Gonna ride Friday, I think. Definitely a maiden voyage opportunity.
Hey if you ever need someone to ride it I would be MORE than happy to give it some seat time... just throwing that out there :B
Hey, I'll take ya...no problem man.

RE: GM

My customer, and friend in Thomasville,NC,would beg to differ about the Dodge Durango...He had some real strong words for his,and dumped after 25,000 miles...Axle fell out, tranny locked up etc..must have been a real lemon...:(
Did he get to replace ball joints? Used to be you couldnt just buy the ball joints. You had to replace the complete a-arm assembly. We used to take em in trade sometimes. If there was 30K miles or more, they needed replacement. I do like the styling of them though. I'll give Dodge that much. They are aesthetically pleasing.

RE: a few pics ad helmet cam vids

Great work Blaster! Congrats on your strong showing at the track this year.
Its unfortunate you have to put up with bashing in the 'sport/performance' section of the forum. If the moderators actually moderated in here all bashing with the exception of the fight club would be deleted with warnings issued. Blaster you should find another atv forum to post on, things will never change in here.
I thought the helmet cam video was greatness, and good to hear of the improvements this year.
30, the guy who bashes the most has been banned twice, had numerous posts deleted,, and he just keeps coming. In order for a mod to do much around here, we have to send requests up the line to people who have more buttons than us. When they finally take action (sometimes takes a few days), it doesn't stick, cuz the offenders just keep coming back. Now, if the mods could do more first hand, it would be as easy as a clickety click to keep up with it.........but we don't really. There probably should be more deleting, you are correct. My busy season is just ending, and I'll try to be more attentive over the winter, but the other mods have also become virtually nonexistent here, so that doesn't help.

RE: GM

DUAL PIPES! That means two!One on each side...I also had a chip installed for the pipes, thats what my mechanic said I needed...I am not telling it all...Willie, maybe a simpler question to ask you're mechanic, would be: does it have dual catalytic converters? If so, it's a true duel exhaust. If not, it's a single to the converter, then split into two. I looked into a "true" duel system for my hemi. A Borla,(I love their systems) true duel, is about $2800 bucks installed.A one into two(single converter) system is about half of that. And Willie; my mostly stock hemi, will eat you're doctored up 5.4 for lunch any day of the week. It eat's Fords for lunch and craps out Chevy's.
Along with Chevy's it also craps out its own tranny! Haha, just kidding I love the new dodge's but ford is in my blood
