RE: This place is DEAD!!!

CC, I don't recall seeing a ride report for your new toy. What's up with that? Bye the way, I am headed to Glamis tonight. I can't help but think of you everytime I go down Lizard hill.

RE: NH_KINGQUAD no more

Sorry to hear this NH. There maybe hope as far as your mortgage. I just went through the (Home affordability loan modification) It is a government program to help people keep there homes. I lost about $20,000 in annual income so I had no choice. It lowered my mortgage payments by $700.00 per month. I am a happy camper now. You may want to check into it. I did it through my own mortgage company instead of one you might find on the internet that wants to charge you an arm and a leg.

No, no riding in a long time. Getting close to dune season now. About 2 more months. Going to start getting the sand rail ready very soon.

A gun-toting protester at President Barack Obama's speech in Phoenix has ignited a media firestorm.
Personally, i am all for it, here in AZ we love our guns.

RE: 700 Polaris Sportsman 2004.5 has clutch issues?

THIS PROBLEM STARTED GRADUALLY AND PROGRESSED TO THE POINT IT IS NOW.
I can only shift if I turn the engine off and put it in Neutral, restart and shift into the gear I need.
I already have taken the cover off to expose the clutches and have found that the belt, in very good shape, is way to tight.(?)
When reving the engine everything seems to be working as it should be. When the engine comes down from the rev to an idle I see that the belt is NOT in contact with both clutch sleeves but it still is pulling the driven clutch. (I believe this has something to do with the type of belt used with the EBS system).
Anyone have any ideas?
Sounds like your idle might be a little too high. Try slowing it down and see if that helps.

Ice Road Truckers. You could not pay me enough to drive on frozen ocean like that and I could not deal with that cold for one minute. No thanks.

RE: Anybody happy with the new president?

Not happy. Everytime he opens his mouth the stock market plunges. Lost half my pension so I pulled the rest out before it all evaporated. It's just a matter of time before he gets assinated. Hate to say it but that would probaly be the best thing for this contry while we still have one. Reid, Polsi, Obumer need to go away.

RE: Question for you diesel owners (pic added)

Pre-1999, the F-Series used the E4OD transmission, which wasn't the best to begin with. In '99, they bumped the Powerstrokes output up a bit, and knew the E4OD wouldn't take it. They then used the 4R100 transmission until 2005, when they went to a 5-speed. I have owned two trucks with the 4R100, and have a combined 495,000 miles on them with no failures. I probably would have gone through four or five E4ODs by now.
SPORTSMAN4X4, they used to preach shutting down the overdrive, because the old trannies just wouldn't take the strain in top gear. The newer transmissions are tougher. Might as well take that button and throw it away.
Between that and Youraddhere I am now convinced to tow and leave overdrive on. Thanks

RE: Question for you diesel owners (pic added)

Well, next time out I am going to leave the overdrive on. I am sure that was most of the problem. I was running at 2750 rpm's most of the time.

RE: Question for you diesel owners (pic added)

Leave the overdrive on. That was your problem. That truck could easily pull that load with the OD on with the cruise set on 80. Ive got the same engine(7.3) and pull often...boat, utility trailer, gooseneck flatbed, gooseneck cattle trailer, etc. All ranging in weight from about 2,000 and up to about 8,000 ALWAYS with the cruise set at about 75-77 and get around 13-16 depending on conditions. Unloaded I can get about 19-23. But there is definately no need to turn off the OD. You musta had a gasser before this :B
Yes, this is my first diesel. I would be concerned about damaging the transmission by leaving it in overdrive. Maybe I will try that next time and only take it out of overdrive when going up hills.

Question for you diesel owners (pic added)

Just made a Glamis trip and was very dissapointed by the miles per gallon I was getting. I expected much better. My truck is a 2002 F-250 Super Duty with 7.3 diesel. I was getting between 7.5 and 8 miles per gallon. Hauling about 5500 lbs with camper, trailer, quad, rail and all the other stuff I take with me. I set the cruise control at about 68. When I seen how bad the mpg it was at that speed I slowed down to 55 and that didn't help either. I turn the overdrive off so I know I am turning alot more rpm's and that will use more fuel but 7.5 mpg sucks. What are you guy's getting with simmiler trucks?

RE: My new toy

Same here Chris. The sound of that diesel is music to my ears. This truck may already have the chip. I don't know for sure but it has the 4" exhaust and it has the gauges on the windshield post.
